Programs
Southeast Children’s Fund Child Development Center. An NAEYC accredited child care center established in 2000, the Center serves infants, toddlers and preschool children, ages six months to five years. A highly trained staff, using the Creative Curriculum, works with children in a safe and secure environment to promote early development of children’s language, literacy, cognitive, social/emotional, and physical skills. The Child Development Center provides care for children age six months to age five. After school care is also available for children up to age 12 years.
Professional Development Institute. Established in 1994, SCF/PDI is a certified non-degree postsecondary institution specializing in training for child development professionals. Certified by the DC Education Licensure Commission and the DC Early Care and Education Administration, it is the only non-college Child Development Associate (CDA) training provider in the District that can award Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to its students. Training hours can be applied toward a college degree in early childhood education or used to satisfy DCPS in-service training requirements. The Institute has trained over 1,000 childcare practitioners, and has demonstrated a high degree of success in the number of graduates who achieved the CDA Credential. PDI programs are available for all skill levels - from entry to master’s level - and can be provided on-site at places of employment or schools. Training programs include:
* Child Development Associate Direct Assessment Training (six-month course to obtain a credential)
* Child Development Associate Professional Preparation Program (CDA P3) (one-year program)
* School-age Development Curriculum - for professionals working with children age six to twelve
* Early Childhood Education and Development Curriculum - for professionals working with children age birth to five years
* Job-site Training/Career Enhancement Workshops - customized for client
* Technical Assistance Workshops on Child care Licensing Topics- includes training on Inclusion, Starting a Child Development Center or Home, Environmental Rating Scales

Parents And Teachers Empowerment Network.
Established as a forum for parents and teachers of young children attending Southeast Children’s Fund Child Development Center and Sunshine Early Learning Center, it emphasizes increasing parents’ family leadership skills, involvement in their children’s education, and mutual support.

Youth And Family Initiatives.
Programs include social skills development, employment training, GED preparation, parent training, home-work help and summer camp.
